Monsters Hiding

— sleepy jean @ 2:11 pm

Feller Quentin’s “I Am Not A Monster” sounds great and we are really excited for you guys to get your hands on it. It will be getting in stores in the spring, but you won’t necessarily have to wait that long. We will be offering pre-sale copies online at the end of next month, and if you can catch Feller live, he will have copies available starting around the same time. We are also planning a springtime tour to support the release, so hold on tight, its all coming soon. In the meanwhile, you can download two songs off of the album now, to whet your pallate. Quentin live dates will be posted as they become available.

And also, this month, we expect to have the mixtapes back up and running. Sorry for the delay on that one. After all the christmas carnage is settled, you should have at your disposal one brand new, shiny pause tape mix.

Stamen & Pistils have a couple of shows coming up soon. On Dec 31st, they will be playing a New Years Eve House Party in Mt. Pleasant, DC. Also, on January 16th, S&P will be playing Def Dumb & Bass in Baltimore. There will probably be one or two other shows next month too, so stay tuned to the S&P website for updates.

Don’t forget, the Stamen & Pistils EP will also be making its way out this spring too, and recording for that is pretty much in the final stages. Pretty exciting.

Our friends Nine:Fifteen are preparing to put out the follow up 12″ EP to last year’s acclaimed, “Spilt Milk.” Comprised of Blake9 (Dead Artists, Candlewax Records) and Comel_15 of Time Machine fame, the new ep entitled “Deluxe Laminated” is some of their strongest work to date, and we’re happy to be carrying this title. Expect to see this in the Echelon shop come January.

Happy belated Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, or whatever else you may or may not care to celebrate.

Check out the Shine!

— sleepy jean @ 9:28 pm

We’re happy to announce that the site has been redesigned. There may still be a couple of kinks here and there, so please bear with us. There have been a couple more mp3’s posted in the artists sections, and more to come. Also, the pause tape archive is temporarily unavailable, but we’ll get that back for you soon enough, and with a fresh new mix to boot!

Stamen & Pistils have an upcoming show next week on November 23, with west coast kids the Blow, YACHT and Katy Davidson of Dear Nora in DC at the Warehouse Nextdoor. And also, this Thursday November 18th, S&P will be performing at Art-O-Matic. This event happens every 2 years, and features local Washington DC artists of every medium exhibiting and performing in a huge space. This year, they’ve taken over the Capitol Children’s Museum, and so the space is very interesting. Fun times, and its Free. 800 3rd St., NE (corner of 3rd and H Streets).

A few of our favorite things…

— sleepy jean @ 5:45 pm

Stamen & Pistils live this month at the Warehouse Nextdoor, with a great line up. Dear Nora’s Katy Davidson will be playing her beautiful pastoral folky pop. YACHT, freshly back from Europe touring as Devendra Banhart’s drummer, delivering his brand of laptop pop. Even if you think you don’t know him, you know his work. Jona has played in/with/for some pretty brilliant records by the likes of Microphones, Mirah, ((VVRRSSNN)), Devendra Banhart, Dear Nora, The Badger King, Bobby Birdman, Little Wing, The Blow and others. Speaking of the Blow, Khaela is of course playing this show as well, and we are all quite excited for this shithot line up. She’s supporting her new release, Poor Aim: Love Songs, which consequently, features YACHT all over it playing a bunch of instruments and making beats. Check out the Stamen & Pistils site for more details. Yeah…

— sleepy jean @ 12:50 pm

New mixtape posted now, a really brilliant job done by our friend The Effects from San Francisco. A member of The Wave Organ project, he has compiled a mix of beautiful noise that has been on heavy rotation here at the Meadhall. Highly recommended download! Also, Outputmessage has a couple of upcoming dates confirmed, so be sure to check him out if you are in the area. New Shows! New Releases!

— sleepy jean @ 12:24 pm

It’s all about Outputmessage right now, we’ve been seeing some positive feedback from the press about his Oneiros EP from Canned, Impact Press, SF Gate, and Outburn magazine to name a few. We’re thrilled to see his name surrounded by such nice words, which can best be summed up by saying: Bernard Farley is one to watch. And for those of us who can’t get enough of this kid, he’s got a few remixes coming out very soon of Villaneuve and Xn. Visit http://www.outputmessage.com for more information on those releases. For those of you in Virginia, and close by, Outputmessage will be performing with Xn on July 30th, at the Twisted Branch Tea Bazaar in Charlottesville, Va.

Also, on August 20th, Stamen & Pistils will be performing their brand of fuzzy electronic pop-filtered tunes, along with Alcian Blue, and Drone Dimension. The show is at our favorite venue in DC, The Warehouse Nextdoor. more info soon.

New releases lining up for the winter, so keep your eyes and ears peeled. Feller Quentin’s quirky folk opus, “I am not a Monster”, and an 12″ EP from our good friends Nine:Fifteen, the brilliant collaboration between Dead Artists producer Blake9 and Comel_15 from Time Machine.
