So, where were we?
If you are in DC, on Tuesday, May 31st, Stamen & Pistils are going to be playing out at the Warehouse Nextdoor with Dirty Projectors and The Wind-Up Bird. Their new EP, End of the Sweet Parade will be available then, and is also available now for pre-sale in our shop. Officially, you can start asking around for the record on June 7th. The Washington Post today called it “richly textured and consistently inventive.” Yeah, we’d say that’s about right.
Also, mark your calendar as Raul Zahir (Stamen & Pistils, Radel Esca) kicks off the night with a short dj set to warm up for Blake9 (Dead Artists, Acorns) at Cafe Saint Ex on Saturday June 4th.
Some new reviews up now for Feller Quentin’s “I Am Not a Monster” from Swagger, Roctober and Punk Planet. If you haven’t already, pick up a copy of this album because you will only regret not having done so.
Do you remember the Echelon Pause tape series? Where periodically we’d ask our friends to compile a quick mix of whatever they felt like? The fomative, the obscure, the generally brilliant or just plain weird. Whatever the case, each mix was greatly different than any of the others. The pause tape is a very personal statement about the person who compiles it, well beyond simply informing their own art. And, its coming back. Very soon. Come back in the next day or so to check out the latest, and to peruse the archived mixes as well, which will all be back.
